The Seek Adventures Mission Statement

To encourage boys to explore the natural world; to give them a challenge and a chance to face it with courage; to step out in faith and connect with God their Father.

Overview of Seek Adventures

Seek Adventures is a non-denominational Christian ministry for boys.  It's goals are to help boys become strong in spirit, mind and body.  Seek Adventures uses nature and adventure to help accomplish these goals.  By making a connection with nature, campers begin to make connection with God.  They begin to see the complexity of His creation and themselves as a part of that creation.  The natural world is a wonderful, but sometimes harsh and unforgiving place; much like life in general.  The rugged places we visit create opportunities to not only be bruised, tested and challenged, but also opportunities to adjust, endure and overcome.  Adventure creates an even deeper element of struggle and promotes connection with God and appreciation for nature.  Nature and adventure together provide a dynamic setting for boys to test their personal limits, to sharpen their view of what can be accomplished and to grow in their faith.  Every day, campers take time to listen to scripture and pray for God's guidance and care.   With God's help, this ministry will continue to be a voice of positive direction in a world with many harmful choices.

About Seek Leadership

Hello, my name is Chuck Kaylor.  Seek Adventures is the realization of a long time dream for me.  I am a conservative Christian who has been involved in youth ministry in north Alabama as a Camp Director and Youth Director for the past 30+ years.  In the mid 90's I began thinking about the possibility of opening my own summer camp.  Wanting to see boy's lives changed by knowing God, I was looking for something new and exciting to get their attention.  I was beginning to get interested in mixing adventure programs with summer camp.  Believing this combination to be a good one, I began to put together what is now Seek Adventures.  I'd like to share some of my core values, which I try to communicate to my campers.  I believe in being honest even when it hurts.  I believe in facing tough situations and working through rather than avoiding.  I believe in placing my full trust in God's care and not allowing fear to influence my decisions.  I believe all people deserve basic respect just because they are God's children.  I believe in hard work and completing the tasks one begins.  I also believe in knowing the Bible and living by the truth it contains.  I would be honored to have the opportunity to help your son grow in these concepts.

Adventure is not Just a Word!

Thanks for checking out Seek Adventures!  If you are seriously considering sending your son to one of our camps please take a moment to read this section, especially if you are new to adventure and the world of boys.  When we say adventure, it’s not just a mood-setting, attention-grabbing word.  We are serious about adventure; it’s what the program is built on.  So just what is adventure?  Well, it’s not an exact science.  It’s allowing some room in the activities for the unexpected.  It’s not being sure of just what is going to happen.  Although we do have daily plans and schedules, we do things in a way that allows each boy freedom and the environment to learn to govern himself.  We are not at amusement parks riding scary rides that have extremely high, engineered safety levels.  We are in the woods, in rivers, on rocks and in the wild.  Because we are not trying to provide a completely sterile environment, unexpected things do happen.  Adventure requires faith, and that is why adventure provides an great opportunity for faith to grow.  Campers learn that they can go through scary, seemingly dangerous times because they have a Father in Heaven who watches over them.  That is the beauty of adventure.  If you are not willing to give your son this kind of freedom and you are not able to trust that God holds him in His hands, maybe Seek Adventures isn’t the right camp for you.  If you have any questions about safety, please contact camp owner, Chuck Kaylor before making a decision.  Don’t misunderstand, Seek Adventures has a great safety record.  Our first year of camping was 1998.  Since that time our worst injuries have been a few minor broken bones which were the result of stumbling or normal play.  At no time has there been a serious injury caused by the more adventurous activities we engage in.  God has called this ministry into being and has blessed it in many ways.  It is however, a world of unknowns, a world of adventure!
